Handcrafted Bicycles: Builders, Frame Design, and Inspiration by Christine Elliott & David Jablonka
Handcrafted Bicycles : Builders, Frame Design, and Inspiration
Our friends over at Circles bike shop in Nagoya asked if we could get some of these books for them, and of course we obliged. Now, we love a hand-built bike as much as (maybe a little more than) anyone else, so we flipped through one, only to discover our friend Jeremy Sycip, as well as Oregon frame builder Joseph Ahearne and those carbon fiber virtuosos down in Bend, Argonaut. It was at this point that our interest was piqued, as we paged through this handsome book, we noted many other heavy hitters of the hand-built bike world like Bilenky, Schön studios, Pegoretti, Baum, Prova, Alex Singer and Mr. ATMO himself, Richard Sachs. On top of that impressive list, there's 22 more equally amazing manufacturers from around the globe. The authors showcase each builders style and the harmony and balance between rider, builder, componentry, ride characteristics and aesthetics. Suffice to say, we thought it'd be a good idea to carry a few of these books to pass on to you. Have it out on your coffee table to leaf through on lazy evenings and so visitors to your home know what you love without having to go to your garage and hear about why you need another bike on top of the 11 you already have.
